Once upon a time…

Four words that start so many stories or adventures and journeys.

Our journey began like so many others, in April of 2017, in our garage and with one dresser. We had hoped to do this on the side as a way to pay off some larger bills quickly. Needless to say, we outgrew our garage within two weeks. We were fortunate enough to move to a larger warehouse-type space, allowing us to carry more pieces and more variety. The intent was to still make extra money to pay off bills. But then, the phrase that will live forever in our family was uttered. "Let's open a furniture store!" "It'll be fun!" So with a whole lot of faith, we took a chance, and on June 8, 2018, we opened our Lancaster store at the Shops @ Rockvale.

In May of 2021 we opened our second location in the Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg. What a whirlwind of a year that was. Two stores. So much furniture. Sadly, two stores were not meant to be. We have since closed our Lancaster store as of May 2022. Alot of factors played into that decision the biggest being the property being redeveloped. With alot of unknowns, we found it was our best bet to just have Gettysburg. Its not a decision we regret. Our Lancaster Facebook page is still active and we do have one for Gettysburg. We didnt want to turn the Lancaster page off as so many of you have been here since the beginning. And who knows? Maybe one day we will return to Lancaster.

Our love for all of this came from hunting for pieces in furnishing our own home. Finding a piece that may have been lost and forgotten by time. Collecting dust and absorbing the stories and history around them. Maybe tucked away in an attic, spare bedroom, storage unit, barn, or a myriad of other places. Our store was born out of a desire to get these pieces a new lease on life. To see them adopted. To be cherished. To be ready for another generation.

Our family business is owned and operated by us. Our 3rd generation is the kids, Princess and The Boss, they hand out hellos and Hershey Kisses. Our 2nd generation is Ryan, Big Boss, he is the man with the plan and a slight chair obsession. He is also the hunter. He finds all the cool pieces in the shops and brings them in. Colleen is the one behind the scenes on all the pages. She is an avid book dragon, nerd to the core, and tea drinker. Also has a slight obsession with glassware thanks to her mother in law. This leads us to Nana, her professional name is Judy. Nana is our 1st generation. She is Nana Extrodanaire and how she puts up with all of us and keeps us in line is a mystery still to be solved. She is the one responsible for Nana's Corner. All the decor, glass, china, knickknacks are all sourced by her.

Our name is Generations of Furniture, as the furniture we hunt has been passed down thru the generations. Also because we have 3 generations of family involved. We hope to meet you as you search for a new piece to adopt for your home. One that will last for generations.
